PAST CLASSICS: Christmastime is Here
Team Hurley tinfoil robot brother (2002). Runs on 4 car batteries. Programable Polish, Spanish, Jamaican and British accents. Hours of fun. Key phrases: ‘That’s Tight,’ ‘Holt Up,’ ‘What’d I Just Say?’ and ‘Low Battery.’ Also includes ‘laugh mode,’ which samples your own laugh and doubles it perfectly. Operating volume is no louder than a household vacuum cleaner (90 decibels).

PAST CLASSICS: Infernal Loop PR Campaign
This poster was part of our ‘limited’ commercial campaign for The Infernal Loop. I remember when we showed up for this screening, the projectionist was really pumped to recognize Kyle from the film and started mimicking the hand gesture he does onscreen. Then, since the ‘special engagement’ was actually a film festival, a woman gave this super-long academic introduction to the film which I thought was tight, but wasn’t able to necessarily hold back laughter during. The highlight was that we submitted an hour version of the loop of which they actually screened what seemed to be a solid 10+ minutes. To top it off, we took the $100 prize for our category, but unfortunately received a check made out to ‘Cooper Black.’

PAST CLASSICS: 30 Hubs Shirtless
Before you ask, let me just say I too have no idea what Hubley was up to with these. I found these gems amidst a roll of 30 or so extremely similar shots of Hubley standing shirtless in front of a variety of faded vista backdrops. He was a bit shy and tightlipped about their origin, but I do remember him saying something like ‘don’t post these’ or something. I wonder what that could have meant?

E. Crary: Daily Chronicles
Crary graces us with his tale of being caught in the middle of two feuding old men: Dave and Tom. Like most feuds, money was involved. Unlike most other feuds, cheeseburgers were additionally involved.

Back To The Future Today, Part 9
This year for Hubley’s birthday, I got him an exact replica of the sports almanac used in Back To The Future Part II. I know, pretty tight. In the film, the ‘let’s just say we’re related’ old Biff travels back to the date of Hubley’s birthday (November 12th) to give the almanac to his younger self. Armed with the almanac, Biff ‘can’t lose,’ and things start to go real tight for him…culminating with the opening of his very own ‘Pleasure Paradise’ casino. I hope all that stuff comes true for Hubley.

TEAM HURLEY INTEREST SERIES: Kickboxer
I saw Kickboxer for the first time while sleeping over at a friend’s house in the sixth grade. The movie had a strong ‘brother theme,’ which I obviously had zero problem relating to. When someone breaks your brother’s spinal cord, you dip your hands in resin and broken glass to fight it out with the dick who did it…it’s the brother’s code. It’s a fucking no-brainer.

Team HR Presents: According To Dale
Obviously, as is common with most young boys, a dad can easily seem to rise to the ranks of ‘Hero’ status. Now take that ‘Hero’ level and add a Japanese KZ-series Superbike with a custom airbrushed gas tank, mahogany leather jacket and full face jet-black helmet. Your ‘Hero’ of a dad just got upgraded to ‘Dale’ status.
