‘Learning Pain Pong’ Instructional Video
Unearthed this fragment of an old instructional video for early 2000’s cultish ‘Pain Pong’ craze. Guaranteed to teach you basically nothing about pain pong.

PAST MOTION CLASSICS: Early Animation
From the vaults come these early case studies in moving drawings and clay. Note that by ‘case studies,’ I actually mean ‘Walt Hubley’s Professional Animation Factory.’ This is obviously the real deal.

Nuggets Presents: The Story of the Set: Part 1
This is the first installment of a 2-part work that chronicles the rise and fall of ‘The Set: Loud and Live,’ a local television show that Kyle and I participated in during the late 90’s. This was not cable access, although it definitely looked like it…and by ‘looked like it,’ I mean it ‘was terrible.’ Part 1 covers the inauguration and bankruptcy of TV-17 (WPMG): the station where our show was born and the first of two stations to host our live ‘idiots club’. RB narrates this rags-to-slightly better rags story.

Home Movie Series: Kyle in Staunton
Occasionally, I will break out a film like this one for a little bump of nostalgia…similar to Tom Cruise in Minority Report when he goes vacay on that futuristic drug while playing a holographic film of his dead wife. This particular film reminds me of high school summers, when there was little to do except go to Staunton and get ripped off for $1.37 on fountain sodas (happened once, learned our lesson). This kind of thing would piss Kyle off royally, especially because he knew that Dr. Smooth was available from the Harris Teeter vending machine next to our house for a mere 25 cents.
Music by Burt Bacharach.

Daily Chronicles: “Gods and Generals”
Our friend Will tells some great stories. In this episode, he recounts his brief experience as a background actor in the extremely tedious Civil War epic “Gods and Generals.” Apparently, I assumed he was going to be in a combat scene and gave him some character coaching that wasn’t able to be put to use. Bummer.

2009 Collected Flip Videos
I was given a Flip camera as a gift last year. This camera is basically a block of plastic that has a red record button on it. Since entire years have started to blur together recently, I made a point to press the red button on multiple occasions last year. This is my NFL Films montage of 2009. The clip where I wake up and say “oh boy…” is the exact moment I turned 30.

TEAM HURLEY INTEREST SERIES: Levon Helm
Drummer for The Band and a black belt in Dixie Delta dialect, Levon Helm has been a personal interest for the brothers for many years. Featured here are assembled highlights from his 90’s drum instructional video as well as other miscellany.
